Bio-organic fertilizer production involves a technical chain integrating microbial fermentation, material pre-treatment, and low-temperature forming. The final product must contain a sufficient quantity of viable bacteria; consequently, the granulation stage faces a dual challenge: ensuring granule strength while avoiding damage to the bacterial strains caused by high temperatures or high pressures. With its unique low-temperature physical forming method, the disc granulator offers an ideal solution to this process challenge.
During granulation, the tilted, rotating disc causes the powdered material to roll, naturally agglomerating into spheres through the combined effects of centrifugal force, friction, and gravity. The entire forming process relies on physical action without introducing high heat or intense pressure; the material temperature inside the disc remains only slightly above ambient levels, preventing the thermal deactivation of functional bacteria. Compared to the forceful extrusion of fertilizer roller granulator or the high-temperature steam environments of drum granulators, the gentle nature of disc granulation provides natural protection for bacterial survival.
The operational flexibility of the disc granulator also accommodates the diverse formulations of bio-organic fertilizers. By adjusting the tilt angle (40°–55°), rotation speed, and feed rate, the process can meet the granulation requirements for various combinations of organic raw materials and microbial agents. Additionally, a binder containing bacteria can be atomized and sprayed during granulation, ensuring a more uniform distribution of viable bacteria within the granules and resulting in more consistent product quality.
The semi-finished granules discharged from the granulator enter a low-temperature drying stage (typically below 60°C) to further preserve bacterial activity. After screening, qualified products are packaged and stored, while fine powder is returned to the disc for re-granulation, creating a closed-loop system with high material utilization efficiency.
By using gentle physical forces to securely combine beneficial microorganisms with organic carriers, the disc granulator ensures that every fertilizer granule embodies viable, reproductive biological activity, making it an economical and efficient choice for bio-organic fertilizer production lines.
