The organic fertilizer production plant cost depends on product positioning and the choice of production process. There are significant differences in equipment configuration and investment structure between standard organic fertilizer and bio-organic fertilizer production; understanding these distinctions helps in creating an accurate budget when planning the production line.
The core equipment for a standard organic fertilizer production line includes a compost turner, crusher, mixer, granulator, dryer, cooler, screener, and packaging machine. For a plant with an annual capacity of 10,000 tons, the investment for the complete equipment set typically ranges from 800,000 to 1.5 million RMB, excluding civil engineering costs. The drying and cooling system—comprising the hot blast stove, rotary dryer, cooler, and dust removal unit—accounts for 35%–45% of the total line investment, making it the most expensive component.
If the plant is positioned for bio-organic fertilizer production, the investment structure changes. Bio-organic fertilizer production requires adding a microbial inoculant application step to the standard process and imposes specific requirements regarding equipment materials and operating methods. All components that come into contact with the material must be made of stainless steel to prevent contamination by unwanted microorganisms; this material upgrade increases equipment costs by 20%–30%. Furthermore, post-granulation drying must be conducted at low temperatures (below 60°C) or via natural air-drying to preserve the viability of the live bacteria. Consequently, drying equipment requires temperature control modules or specialized low-temperature units, raising the investment cost accordingly. Additionally, a liquid inoculant spraying system or a precision metering device must be installed.
In summary, the investment for a standard organic fertilizer line with an annual capacity of 10,000 tons is approximately 800,000 to 1.5 million RMB, whereas a bio-organic fertilizer production line costs approximately 1 million to 2.1 million RMB. However, since the selling price of bio-organic fertilizer is typically 30%–50% higher than that of standard fertilizer, the investment payback period may actually be shorter. When planning a project, it is advisable to clearly define the product positioning before determining the equipment configuration to avoid redundant investment caused by incorrect equipment selection.
