Vertical Disc Mixer

The vertical disc mixer is specialized equipment designed for batching and mixing in the production of organic and compound fertilizers; it is particularly well-suited for handling materials that possess some moisture and a tendency to clump. It utilizes a vertical main shaft to drive mixing arms that rotate within the disc, turning over and blending the materials. The equipment is highly adaptable to semi-moist materials and resists sticking to the disc or clogging, making it a popular choice for the mixing stage in the production of bio-organic fertilizers and organic-inorganic compound fertilizers.

Working Principle

Once materials are fed into the mixing disc, the rotating vertical main shaft drives the movement of the mixing arms and scrapers. Paddles on the mixing arms push the materials along the disc’s circumference, creating a horizontal circular flow. Simultaneously, scrapers continuously lift and turn over material from the disc bottom and walls, facilitating vertical mixing between layers. Through this combined motion of horizontal circulation and vertical turnover, the various components blend rapidly and uniformly.

Applicable Raw Materials

Organic fertilizer materials: Fermented organic fertilizer powder, bio-organic fertilizer materials with added microbial agents

Organic-inorganic mixtures: Blends of organic fertilizer with chemical fertilizers such as urea, ammonium phosphate, and potash

Semi-moist materials: Mixing fermented materials (with moderate moisture content) and auxiliary additives

Trace element addition: Uniform mixing of small amounts of secondary and trace elements with large quantities of organic fertilizer base material

Feed ingredients: Mixing of feed raw materials such as oil cakes/meals and brans

Basic Material Requirements

Material fineness: Feed material should not be excessively coarse; generally, powder particles should be under 2mm. Coarse particles tend to settle at the bottom of the disc, compromising mixing uniformity.

Moisture content: Mixing efficiency is optimal when moisture content is below 25%. If moisture content is high, mixing time must be controlled to prevent material clumping.

Foreign objects: Materials must be free of large stones, iron objects, or other hard debris that could damage the mixing arms and scrapers. Liquid additives should not exceed 15% of the total material weight and must be sprayed evenly.
